Editorial review

Shark Ticker is an application that displays stock prices by means of a small bar on your desktop. This bar can be placed at the top or the bottom of the screen to avoid interfering with other applications.

The application blinks when a price changes and shows alerts when a stock drops below or rises above a certain price.
If you want to add a stock price, you just need to type its symbol and the program will display the company name and price. But if you wish to add a stock and you don't know its symbol, the program includes a link to view the stock symbols on Yahoo. If you add more stocks than the bar can show, the stocks will be automatically scrolled.

Among other options, you can set the time interval to update the stock information from one minute to one hour. Besides, you can adjust the scroll speed, change the font/font size, include or exclude the company names or symbols, and make the bar transparent.

In short, this small program can be a good option if you wish to have important stock prices at hand. It works only for displaying purposes and does not log the information shown, so, if you are looking for a program to analyze the behavior of the stock market you will need a different one.

  • You can create your own stock price list, adjust the time to update the information, and activate alerts.

  • Requires an Internet connection.
  • It doesn't log the information.
  • No charts and printing options available.
